In the world of One Loft Races, the Pyramids One Loft race stands out for its extremely selective nature, where the true die-hards distinguish themselves from the rest. The home base of this race is located in Northern Egypt, where high temperatures combined with low humidity demand a lot from the pigeons. Entrants from all over the world sent nearly 3,700 pigeons to Egypt to compete for top honors, with a prize pool of over 300,000 Euros, including cars. After a thorough training program, the official races ranged from 150 km to 380 km, with intermediate steps of 200 km – 235 km – 310 km. The selection process leading up to the final proved to be extremely tough; 909 pigeons made it to the final, which had a smooth course, with four pigeons breaking away from the pack, and the rest of the arrivals coming in small groups every 4 to 6 minutes. A beautifully fair and selective course, indeed. As an extra, on May 1st, there was a super final over 480 km, with 776 pigeons in competition and a remarkable 1st and 3rd place for the Brockamp & PEC alliance.
